Sabah’s Record Pizza Delivery…
Who says the Tip of Borneo is too far away?
In conjunction with the launch of Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, guests on board visiting yachts to Kudat, Sabah for the official opening of the Tip of Borneo were treated to a unique dining experience as they anchored at the tip. In a “world record-breaking feat”, guests enjoyed delicious pizza on board their yachts courtesy of an express pizza delivery service from capital Kota Kinabalu – nearly 100 miles away!
15 pizzas from Little Italy Restaurant, located in Kota Kinabalu, were whisked to Tanjung Simpang Mengayau by the 70mph Bladerunner powerboat to the hungry onlookers and stayed warm the whole way – bringing new meaning to the phrase “power lunch”!
Touchdown Luxury Yacht Charters used their Bladerunner vessel – the only vessel of its kind in South East Asia – to travel the distance at high speed, reaching the Tip of Borneo in less than 1 hour fifteen minutes!!
Touchdown’s Managing Director, Phil Dobson said “when you want pizza, you just gotta have it..!! It certainly added a bit of fun and colour to the event. We wanted to show people the Tip of Borneo really isn’t that far away, and makes a magical spot for tourists and locals to visit alike, whether by car, flight, luxury charter yacht… or even the high speed Bladerunner!”
Little Italy was happy to turn the ovens on an hour earlier for this very exciting and unique pizza delivery!
Emiliano Ceresa, the General Manager of the popular Italian restaurant, said “This is by far the most unique pizza order we have ever had. We are delighted to have had such an interesting request – and were glad to know that the pizzas were still piping hot by the time they reached the tip! The Bladerunner is the fastest boat in Sabah and obviously opens up the way to Kudat…and not just for our pizza business!”
The Chief Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Seri Musa Hj Aman, and YB Tan Sri Datuk Chong Kah Kiat, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah were at Tanjung Simpang Mengayau to officially launch this landmark attraction for tourism. The fleet of Touchdown Luxury Yachts, as well as other boats and visiting yachts were on hand to show their support for the event.
